Two September gatherings brought the MÄFO Dress Movement to Times Square: our New York Fashion Week brunch on September 13 and our UNGA81 brunch on September 26. We are grateful to LAMEL Cosmetics for sponsoring gifts for the women who joined us at both events.
The MÄFO Dress connects women through a shared design and the heritage it carries. What makes each gathering special is the woman wearing it: her style, her story and the way she chooses to show up. LAMEL’s gifts gave our guests another way to celebrate that individuality and take a piece of the experience home.
Our New York Fashion Week brunch was hosted by Claire Sulmers, founder of Fashion Bomb Daily. Among the women who joined us were Constance C. R. White, Phylicia Pearl Mpasi, Manda Nyamboli, Marianne Bema, Perky Noah Effik and Ambassador Francine Mbvoumbo. Around the table, women from fashion, business and the community connected through the dress and through their own stories.
At the UNGA81 edition, Francine Mbvoumbo convened another gathering at Crab House Times Square. We were joined by women including Datari Ladejo and three MÄFO Queen Mothers from Cameroon. The event recognized five women for their global and lasting influence: H.E. Amina J. Mohammed, Mrs. Kanayo Awani, Sanda Ojiambo, Dr. Anino Emuwa and Liz Agbor Tabi Oton. We are proud to honor their work and the paths they are making for other women, including those who could not be with us in person.
We also thank Televase, our vase sponsor, for helping create welcoming tables for these conversations. Our appreciation goes to Lea Spiezio, Inside Fashion Design and Nehawa Abam for supporting the two brunches and the women at their center.
